Smith's journey begins in his youth, when he was raised in a secular household. As he grew older, he began to question the existence of God and the teachings of organized religion. He eventually came to the that there was no God and that life was simply a matter of chance.

However, Smith's agnosticism was short-lived. In his early twenties, he began to experience a series of profound spiritual experiences that led him to reconsider his beliefs. He began to sense the presence of God in his life and to feel a deep longing for connection with something greater than himself.

After much searching and exploration, Smith eventually found his way to Baptist Christianity. He was drawn to the Baptist emphasis on personal experience and the authority of Scripture. He was baptized and became an active member of a Baptist church.

For several years, Smith found comfort and fulfillment in his Baptist faith. However, over time, he began to have doubts about some of the Baptist teachings. He questioned the Baptist belief in the inerrancy of Scripture and the doctrine of eternal punishment. He also began to feel a growing sense of dissatisfaction with the Baptist worship services, which he found to be too rigid and formal.

After much prayer and deliberation, Smith decided to leave the Baptist church and explore other Christian traditions. He visited different churches and read widely about different Christian denominations. Eventually, he was drawn to Catholicism.

Smith was attracted to the Catholic Church's rich history, its emphasis on tradition, and its sacramental system. He also appreciated the Catholic Church's commitment to social justice and its emphasis on the importance of community.

After a period of instruction, Smith was received into the Catholic Church. He found in Catholicism a home where he could both satisfy his intellectual curiosity and deepen his spiritual life.

Smith's journey from agnosticism to Baptist Christianity to Catholicism is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of following one's conscience. His memoir is a valuable resource for anyone who is searching for truth and meaning in their lives.
