Proceedings Of The NATO Advanced Study Institute Held In Yalta Ukraine 20
The NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on "Photonics in the 21st Century" was held in Yalta, Ukraine, from 20 to 31 August 2015. The ASI was organized by the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and was sponsored by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.
The ASI brought together 75 participants from 20 countries, including scientists, engineers, and students from both NATO and non-NATO countries. The ASI covered a wide range of topics in photonics, including:
The ASI was a great success and provided a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about the latest advances in photonics and to network with other experts in the field. The proceedings of the ASI have been published in a special issue of the journal "Optical and Quantum Electronics".

The book is divided into six parts, each of which covers a different topic in photonics. The first part, "Fundamentals of Photonics," overviews the basic principles of photonics, including the propagation of light, the interaction of light with matter, and the generation and detection of light. The second part, "Optical Materials and Devices," discusses the properties of optical materials and the design and fabrication of optical devices. The third part, "Photonics for Information Processing," explores the use of photonics for information processing applications, such as optical communications, optical computing, and optical storage. The fourth part, "Photonics for Sensing and Imaging," discusses the use of photonics for sensing and imaging applications, such as optical microscopy, optical spectroscopy, and optical tomography. The fifth part, "Photonics for Energy and Environmental Applications," explores the use of photonics for energy and environmental applications, such as solar energy conversion, environmental monitoring, and pollution control. The sixth part, "Photonics for Biomedical Applications," discusses the use of photonics for biomedical applications, such as medical imaging, tissue engineering, and drug delivery.
The book is a valuable resource for scientists, engineers, and students who are interested in learning about the latest advances in photonics. The book is also a valuable resource for policymakers who are interested in supporting the development of photonics technologies.
